The Turtles - Carlos Santana (Dedicated to Mom)

Turtles drummer John Barbata also drummed for
Jefferson Starship, which starting in the late 1970s would feature lead vocalist Mickey Thomas formerly of
The Elvin Bishop Group. Part of that group was the multi-instrumentalist Dennis Marcellino who was in the funk group Rubicon, the Tokens (famous for their hit single "The Lion Sleeps Tonight") as well as
Sly & the Family Stone, whose lineup featured Larry Graham (credited as inventor of the "slap-bass" technique) and Gregg Errico who had played drums in David Bowie's and Jerry Garcia's bands. Graham and Errico would go on to form
Azteca (a.k.a. Graham Central Station) with guitarist Neal Schon, who before he went on to form the successful band Journey, had played in
Santana with Carlos Santana.
