Fairport Convention -- Pink Floyd

Six Degrees of Rock and Roll is a special segment on The Long Strange Trip. At 11:00 on Monday mornings we connect 2 different artists to each other through bands. Think of 6 degrees to Kevin Bacon, but with bands. We play a song from each band/artist along the way and the result is an entertaining and informative peek into the interconnectedness of the whole rock and roll network.

On "6 Degrees" this week we connected The Fairport Convention to Pink Floyd in exactly 6 steps:

0) Fairport Convention: including Iain Matthews, who founded:
1) Matthews Southern Comfort: including bassist Andy Leigh, who would join:
2) Spooky Tooth: to replace bassist Greg Ridley after he left to join:
3) Humble Pie: which included guitarist/singer Peter Frampton, who would form:
4) Frampton's Camel: to record his 1973 album with bassist Rick Wills, who had been in:
5) Jokers Wild: with guitarist David Gilmour, who would replace Syd Barrett in:
6) Pink Floyd

If you enjoyed that, be sure to tune in Monday for the next installment
