Little Feat -- Eagles

This week on Six Degrees of Rock & Roll, We embarked on a musical journey that started with Little Feat, one of my favorite LA rock bands and ended with the Eagles. Here was the run-down:

0) Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward had previously been in the band:
1) Fraternity of Man, who recorded "Don't Bogart Me"for the movie Easy Rider. Elliot Ingber was in the band after spending time with Frank Zappa in his band:
2) Mothers of Invention with well-known and widely used bassist Jim Fielder. Included in Fielder's extensive resume is a stint with the pop group:
3) The Association which featured banjo player and harmony singer Larry Ramos. Ramos had joined the Association after a tenure with:
4) The New Christy Minstrels which was a starting point for many famous careers including Kim Carnes, Barry McGuire, Kenny Rogers and Gene Clark, who after stardom as a founding member of the Byrds, would collaborate with Doug Dillard (fresh from the Dillards) to form:
5) Dillard & Clark which featured Bernie Leadon, a good friend of Doug's that provided harmonies and a vast array of instrumentation on their debut album. Leadon would go on to fame with the Flying Burrito Brothers and eventually as a founding member of:
6) The Eagles

Be sure to tune in next week!

  1. Mothers of invention is a very interesting connection here. I am glad interbreeding doesn't have the same effects in music that it does in other realms... usually. :) Good stuff Dan.
