Dire Straits - Van Morrison

To celebrate St. Paddy's Day we connected Dire Straits to my favorite Irishman, Van Morrison!

0) Dire Straits drummer Pick Withers had previously been a member of the English folk band
1) Magna Carta which featured Doug Morter, Paul Burgess and George Norris who would all eventually join
2) The Albion Band whose founding members Ashley Hutchings and Richard Thompson had previously founded the hugely influential
3) Fairport Convention. In 1972 the band cycled through three different drummers, one of which, Bruce Rowland,  had been playing in
4) The Grease Band, which aside from releasing 2 albums, had played at Woodstock as Joe Cocker's backing band. The Grease Band featured guitarist Henry McCullough who would later be best known as a member of Paul McCartney & Wings, but had previously played in Spooky Tooth as well as
5) Eire Apparent, a british psychedelic rock outfit produced by Jimi Hendrix. Also in Eire Apparent was keyboardist Eric Wrixon, a founding member of the band Thin Lizzy as well as the Belfast-based
6) Them, with Van Morrison.
