Grateful Dead - Steely Dan

This week on Six Degrees of Rock & Roll we connected The Grateful Dead to Steely Dan, which took us on a colorful musical journey through bluegrass and country music.

0) Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia, had a bluegrass side project called:
1) Old & in the Way featuring bluegrass fiddler Vassar Clements who participated in the 1974 record:
2) Norman Blake, Tut Taylor, Sam Bush, Butch Robins, Vassar Clements, David Holland, Jethro Burns. Mandolin player and singer Sam Bush would soon form:
3) The New Grass Revival with banjo player Bela Fleck and guitarist Tim Goodman, who ten years later would join the country band:
4) Southern Pacific, which featured Keith Knudsen, John McFee and Jerry Scheff who had all played in:
5) The Doobie Brothers. In 1974 guitarist Jeff "Skunk"Baxter joined the Doobie Brothers after leaving:
6) Steely Dan, which he had helped form in 1972.
